Gas heater service Adelaide
Standard service across all brands, $149 wall / $199 ducted. Bonaire included.
Bonaire is a South Australian heating brand and we're South Australian gas fitters — that local connection means parts come from down the road, not across the country. We service every Bonaire from the MB6 wall units to MB12 Plus ducted and the Modulator range. Service from $149, repairs from $189.
Bonaire is one of the most South Australian brands you can buy. Owned by Climate Technologies — a manufacturer based in Beverley, Adelaide — Bonaire has been making heating and evaporative cooling for Australian homes since the 1970s. The local connection runs deep: parts ship from a Melbourne and Adelaide network, R&D happens here, and many SA gas fitters (us included) trained on Bonaire systems early in their careers.
The brand's signature in Adelaide is the combo system — a Bonaire ducted gas heater paired with a Bonaire evaporative cooler, sharing the same ducting, controlled from one wall panel. Thousands of Adelaide homes built between 1995 and 2015 have this exact setup. The MB12 (12-zone, 12kW class) and MB6 (smaller-home version) became the staples, and the Bonaire Modulator brought modulating gas valve technology for tighter temperature control.
Where Bonaire shines: serviceable design, accessible parts (locally), and combo-system integration. Where it can frustrate: the condensate drain on MB12 and Modulator units is a known weak point. It blocks with algae and dust over summer and the heater locks out the first cold snap of winter. A standard service catches it. The other Bonaire-specific quirk is the modulating gas valve on later Modulator units — sensitive, and worth annual servicing once the heater is more than 8-10 years old.
We rate Bonaire well for repairability. A 15-year-old Bonaire MB12 with sound burner and heat exchanger can usually be brought back to as-new operation for the cost of a fan motor capacitor, a condensate clean-out and a fresh ignition control board. Replacement is rarely the first conversation we have about a Bonaire that's been looked after.

2000–2014 era. The classic Bonaire ducted unit in Adelaide. 12kW class, often paired with evaporative cooling. Common faults: condensate drain, fan motor.
Mid-2000s upgrade with improved efficiency. Same general layout as MB12. Parts shared, well-supported.
Smaller-home version (6kW class). Common in 2-3 bedroom Adelaide units and townhouses. Same maintenance pattern as MB12.
Premium ducted with modulating gas valve. Quieter, more even heat. Modulating valve worth annual service after 8 years.
Some early-2000s Bonaire units were sold under the Pyrox name. We service both — they share parts and architecture.
Wall-mounted Bonaire space heaters from the 1990s onwards. Less common than ducted but still present in older Adelaide homes.
Wall controllers across the MB12 and Modulator range. Common faults: blank screen, frozen interface — usually a cable or board issue.
Combined gas heating + evaporative cooling on shared ducting. We service the gas side; we can recommend a trusted cooling specialist for the evap side.
Bonaire units have their own personality. After a couple of decades fixing them, here's the shortlist that covers most of what we attend.
Bonaire-specific tip: if your Bonaire ducted heater has shut down at the start of winter and the controller shows a fault code starting with "F", it's almost certainly the condensate drain. Cheap fix.
