The unit itself (roof-space or underfloor)
- Full carbon monoxide (CO) safety test
- Burner strip, clean, reseat
- Heat exchanger inspection (the biggest safety check)
- Gas pressure test (inlet and manifold)
- Pilot, thermocouple, flame sensor service
- Flue condition and vent check
- Combustion fan inspection
The distribution (ducts, filters, zones)
- Return air filter clean or replace
- Duct visual inspection (looking for tears, collapses, or animal damage)
- Zone damper motor test (critical if some rooms are cold while others are warm)
- Outlet airflow test (both temperature and volume)
- Supply/return balance check
The controls
- Thermostat calibration test
- Zone controller operation
- Timer and schedule function (if applicable)
The delivery
You get a written compliance certificate listing every test, every reading, and any recommendations. Keep it for your records — landlords, insurers and future buyers sometimes want to see it.
Ducted problems we fix most often
Some rooms warm, some cold
Almost always a damper motor issue, a blocked duct, or a zone controller fault. Diagnosis runs on all of them — we don't guess.
System runs but no warm air at vents
Could be a failed combustion fan, blocked filter, or the heater cycling on overtemp. Part of standard diagnostics.
Loud bangs when heating starts
Delayed ignition. Safety issue + can damage the heat exchanger over time. Don't ignore.
System trips thermostat too early
Often a return-air issue — furniture blocking a return grill, or a thermostat in the wrong room. Quick fix, big comfort improvement.
Clicking but won't light
Ignitor working, gas valve not. Usually a $250-400 valve replacement.
System runs constantly without reaching temperature
Usually means it's undersized for the home, or ducts have leaks. We'll tell you straight — sometimes the answer is to size up the unit.

Braemar (Seeley International)
Adelaide's most common ducted brand. We know the Vector, TQS, TH-series, and older Tempro and Tempro Platinum systems inside out. Common faults: main PCB on 8+ year units, gas valve on TQS series.
Brivis
Next most common. Buffalo series (older), HX and SP6 (newer). Common issue: lid seal leaking on roof units, temp sensor on SP6.
Bonaire
Popular mid-2000s-2010s. VSL series most common. Ignition board is the usual failure point after 10 years.
Rinnai, Pyrox, Vulcan, Regency
Less common in ducted but we service all of them too. Parts sometimes need ordering (24-48 hrs).
